My life story is necessarily told with global narrative - I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and have since lived in Calgary, Nairobi, Montreal, New York and now call Toronto my home. Culturally, my ancestry is sourced from Gujurat India yet filtered through 3 recent generations of forefathers iiving in East Africa.
At age 11 I moved with my family from Alberta to Kenya; which set interesting context for just 4 years later when I was to log on to the Internet via copper wire in 1995 and immediately realize with wonderment the rush of transcending geo-physical boundaries whilst communicating in ways which felt innate yet modern, current and futuristic all at the same time. Since then I've been involved in a myriad of projects with a common thread of exploring how technology can facilitate multilateral communication between people and aid to develop communities with a sense of comfort, purpose and belonging.
In 2005 I moved to Toronto to establish a digital services firm called Design Guru (http://www.designguru.org), of which I am still the operating Principal, and constantly seek to explore phenomena of evolving cultural expression; which has led to initiating media/arts projects such as my Indian Electronica record label/music festival (http://www.indianelectronica.com) and most recently, GetFilmi (http://www.getfilmi.com) - a video-on-demand service for Indian Cinema.
